Vulcan to the Sky

HONOURING THE PAST INSPIRING THE FUTURE

Following a ten-year restoration project, Avro Vulcan XH558 returned to flight on October 18 2007, having been grounded on March 23 1993 at the end of its RAF career. The Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST) is the charity responsible for returning the iconic aircraft to flight and since her final flight on October 28 2015 has been responsible for her upkeep.

XH558 has been named ‘the people’s plane’ to recognise the fact that public donations helped to restore her to flight and public donations, through campaigns like ‘Names Under the Wing’ that have ensured that she is maintained and looked after. Since 2017 XH558 has been parked at Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA), while the charity raises funds to build a permanent home for the aircraft.
