LR Motors, Yorkshire’s Land Rover Defender restoration specialists, has rebranded to become Spirit of 48.

From their new Head Office and workshop in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, Spirit of 48 will continue to undertake a variety of restoration and modification projects, from complete rebuilds to providing specialist services. Work is carried out to the highest possible standards, to ensure these iconic vehicles, with all their quirks, spirit and soul are preserved for the next generation.

Spirit of 48 will also offer a small number of Signature Builds each year, recreating limited edition Land Rovers of bygone times.

On the new look, Spirit of 48’s CEO Ross Munro said: “I’m delighted to reveal our new brand, Spirit of 48. The name derives from our passion for all things Defender and keeping its spirit forever alive, with ‘48’ a reference to the date of the launch of the original Series 1 Land Rover.

“I have had a passion for Land Rover’s since I was a young boy, so working with these incredible vehicles day in, day out, is a real privilege, and I’m proud of what the brand has become. “Through Spirit of 48, we hope to inspire other Defender enthusiasts to rediscover the vehicle’s unique charm, character and spirit.”

As part of the launch, Spirit of 48 have also opened another UK office and EV Centre in Towcester, Northamptonshire, as well as an office in Mulheim, Germany. There are plans to expand into the United States later this year.

More about the business: Previously known as LR Motors, a company founded in March 2015, Spirit of 48 are specialists in the restoration and modification of the Land Rover Defender. Over the years, they have sold more than 500 Defender customised and restored vehicles, Spirit of 48 currently employs a team of 20 staff.
